Lab tech or research?

I currently finishing up a research semester, but I was offered a part-time (summer and through the semester) job working in an organic chemistry lab off campus (which I don't think is really academically-involved). I was also considering doing more research through my senior yr (unpaid). Do any of you have advice on what I should do? Do dental schools care which one I pick? Is there one that is more favored upon than the other?
