Labcoats?

any body know anything about the fabric of the labcoats?

i want a thick good material one...not that cheap crap that
the school gives us or your retail store gives out


what percentage of the labcoats needs to be polyester/cotton?

dont wear one.

they never fit well, get dirty quickly, and look generally stupid;
they have no meaning when EVERYONE in the d amn house wears one.

they are, in my opinion, just a silly way for colleges to justify a dumb "ceremony" in which one becomes "professional".


just dress nicely. (if you're a guy, please iron your shirt and keep your shoes clean....if you're a chick, leave the cleavage to the drug reps)

Some schools require lab coats so it's not an option to do without one. We have one course where professional dress with lab coats is required once a week.

To the OP, check out a scrub shop. They usually have a decent selection of lab coats. Check with your school to see what they want (eg. short or long length, sleeve length etc). I don't think the blend is important since we aren't using these protect us ourselves like if we were in a lab.

The cleavage issue is getting out of control....I am so disgusted to see it all around. To me it is no different than a "rear" cleavage.
People please cover up🙂

i used to wear a sweater with at least a t-shirt underneath it to labs that "required" white coats. i would walk in with it on, then say "oh, i'm too hot" and take it off. (the coat, that is)
done.
requirement met.

i have always hated the white coat thing. it's silly. you mean to tell me that the $20 coat from the bookstore or scrub shop is more professional looking that an armani suit? get real.
if you're actually working with dirty stuff, then by all means, cover up with the coat....but to call it "professional" and require it for classroom work. spare me !!!

colleges should offer workshops on professional appearances that include dress, make up, hair, etc if they are serious about looking "professional". students should be taught how to look like they mean business; a silly coat doth not make the man!

sorry.....just my old ACP bias flaring up. back when i was there (i feel old saying that) the college was trying to be something that it was NOT; and i always felt that the "professional" requirements, like wearing a white coat in a lecture hall, were silly in light of the bigger picture. given the past year's accreditation nightmare, maybe i was right, maybe they should have focused on more than appearances!

furthering my white coat distaste is the fact that EVERYONE, and i mean everyone in my hospital wears one. from the docs to dietitians to nurse administrators to finance people to environmental services.....so why bother??

i am a big believer in the fact that appearances DON'T make you more competant. i concentrate better when i am comfortable, i like to dress in nice clothes, so i dress "professionally". but there are days (esp overnight, weekends) that i prefer jeans.....it doesnt make me any less the pharmacist that i am.
