i've recently became really interested in going into dental
BUT here's the prob, i'm already a junior, but will be graduating early (next semester) and my grades are not impressive at all!
since most of ya seem to have already taken DAT and applied to dental schools i'm sure you could give me some good honest advice.
i have a 3.3 overall GPA and science GPA ~3.0
since i wasn't thinking about applying to dental school, i obviously wasn't volunteering in that field, but only at my church
so it's not just my grade, but i'm lacking in extracurricular also 😱
do you guys think i can still make it if i start now?
DID ANYONE GET ACCEPTED W/ VERY SHORT LIST OF ACTIVITIES?
also, what schools tend to be "less competitive"?

Thanks

of course you can make it if you start now. just start shadowing your dentist and volunteering at a dental clinic (if possible). Study hardcore for the DAT and do awesome on that. Your overall GPA is good, but you should raise your science gpa by taking some extra science classes (such as anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry) before you graduate. Some people don't even decide to go into dentistry till their in there late 20's, or even early 30's...you're only a junior. Don't worry, just start doing these things and you'll be on the right path. Also, take the necessary prereqs if you haven't already. good luck.
