i see, thanks for the links. i didnt know that site existed. based on what I read it makes sense for lyrica, lacosamide still seems like a long shot...especially since some drugs like tramadol isn't controlled....anyways thank you!

Tramadol became a controlled drug in NYS effective Febuary 2013.

tramadol is controlled in europe - should be here.

In Illinois Tramadol was changed from non controlled to C-5 about a year ago I believe.

why is lacosamide a controlled substance? only C-V, but still, seems kinda weird.

Per dea stance... it is controlled for 2 reasons like any controlled drug.

--mechanism consistent with reinforcing, addictive, or dependence inducing properties.

--has "likeability" ie addicts who take it really specifically crave a redose

Together these two properties contribute to "abuse liability" and likelyhood of physical and mental dependency, which is how drugs are scheduled.

Lacosamide has tranquilizer type effects.. make sense?

Tramadol has likeability but intrinsically limited dependence potential due to ceiling effect.. but it is a substitute drug for addicts so its being scheduled in places.

other drugs with same mechanism aren't controlled, i still think its a silly classification.... but if the mice in the cage pressed the button for it then ok 🙂
