Dear Sir
My mother aged 47 was suffering from chronic headaches and weakness for about a year. She just had a CT Scan two days back and it was diagnosed that she has Lacunar Infarcts. But,my mother doesnt have any history of paralysis or a stroke before. The doctor has prescribed Losar and Aspirin. Please can you suggest some more information about this condition. What are the preventive measures one must take in order to cure this completely.
Hoping anxiously for your reply.

Student Doctor Network discourages the solicitation of medical advice. If you want information you can consult with her physician or try elsewhere. Try www.google.com.

Good luck.

lacunar infarct basically means an infacrt due to a small vessel lesion. Just bear in mind that a lot of times in neurology the size of infarct (to a certain extent) is not as clinically significant as the location of infarct . There are a lot of redundant pathways, and many of which are in "standby" mode. This may be one explanation why your mom was not symtomatic. I do concur with what the other post said: you/or your mom should seek a formal consult from a neurologist.
