How much did you spend on interview attire?

About $300 (I needed the jacket/pants, shirt, shoes, and other little things). This was, by far, the most I've ever spent on clothing at one time, but I usually just tromp around in blue jeans and a t-shirt.

I went to an after christmas sale. My skirt was 5 dollars down from 80, jacket 15 down from 150. Shoes were 50, blouse was 40. So 90 total because of Savvy shopping

Just to note.

You do need nice clothes for the clinic (not whole interview suit, but maybe parts of it), and you will have residency interviews down the line.

So, buying something that could fulfill those purposes, even if it costs you some extra money, could be worth it down the line. Not everyone has a ton of money to spend at the time of med school interviews, I know, but it could be an investment.

$140 for skirt suit (macy's)
$20 for blouse (h&m)

I already had shoes but they were $70 (macy's)

I got two skirts, two blouses, and a jacket at The Limited for ~$250. Shoes at Payless for $20. Still probably need to buy a few extra things.

I bought a suit set (blazer and pencil skirt) from J Crew for $250 (they had a 30% off sale on suiting at the time), fitted dress shirt from Banana Republic on sale for $25, black heels from Nordstrom Rack from $20, and a Nine West tote from Ross for $25.

I bought almost everything on sale, and even though it's still a pretty pricey outfit, it's worth it to me because I have multiple interviews and there'll be more in the future as a physician (residency, job, etc). It pays to look nice at these interviews, first impressions do matter. I cringed the other day when another interviewee showed up wearing dress pants paired with a cardigan and tank top -____- Definitely not professional looking.

👍 for J. Crew suits, even though I'm a guy and bought a men's suit.
