Hey guys,
In short, possibly knowing where i'll be spending the next 4 years of my life within the next week has got me thinking on what type of laptop i should get for d school. I've always felt that a tablet notebook would be best. Do you all have any suggestions? thanks!!

I'd wait if I were you - some schools make you buy a specific laptop.

The above is a good point. My school let us choose. My priority was to get a small (12")/lightweight (4 lbs) computer. I highly recommend it because I haul it to school daily and I think most students do (or wish they could but don't because they don't like hauling the clunker they bought)...it's really nice because a lot of our lecturers email out powerpoint presentations and it's nice to bring my own copy. We are also required to bring laptops to clinic. So yeah, small and lightweight are key features to look for.

We had to get tablets. I don't think most people use it that often, but when you do use it, it's a great function. I'd rather save a few hundred and get a normal laptop tho.

Laptops are bittersweet, for information storage and retreival they are great, but they can be a distraction. You don't need one, but I always see the people who don't have one borrowing someone elses. Get one but exercise self control, and don't play games during histology.

So overall, dont get a tablet pc?

Wait to see if the school makes you buy one. We had to buy a tablet...right now its just used for academics but you need it once you get into clinic for signatures/charting/whatever. and yes, try not to get too distracted...almost everyone in my class has about 200+ nintentdo games on theirs. Kinda interesting to sit in class and watch 10 people play Punch-Out.

Wait on it as the above posters said...if you don't and end up at a school that requires you purchase a specific one, you will end up with two of them

There's a really good deal on a Lenovo Thinkpad listed on slickdeals right now. I was very tempted to get a new laptop...

Come on you guys, is there really only ONE sane choice out there.
MAC.....

Let me have it.
