Laptop backpacks

Some good brands:

Ogio
JanSport
NorthFace

etc. I use an Ogio messenger bag. I can fit a bucket load of crap in here. Make sure you look at things like:

Fabric: is the thing durable?
Zippers: are they wimpy or awesome
room: what is the cubic inch measurement and compare it to others
extras: bottle holder, snowboard strap, small pockets, whatever

etc.

i have an Ogio bag i got free from work 2 years ago and its awesome. i carry my macbook everywhere. my only gripe is that the shoulder strap thingy's don't stay where i set them~they eventually slide to the lowest setting so my bag hangs a lil low. other than that, it's the best bag i've ever used for school.

Why not just get a laptop sleeve? That way you can use whatever backpack you like.

I have had the SYNERGY from SwissGear by Wenger Computer Backpack for 3 years now. Have used it everyday. Still looks like new. Bought it from Amazon. A real workhorse.

I use the Ogio Metro Backpack. Its a sick backpack with lots of pockets and a sleek spot for your laptop. I have had it for almost two years and havent had a single problem.

the metro ogio back does look good. mine is slightly different, i think it's the "street" version? i dunno. the synergy bag looks great too, plus it's a lil cheaper. i used to always use DaKine bags for school, and always carried my laptop separately. now that i've been able to use a bag with a special sleeve for the laptop i'd never use anything else.

Backpack is better because with a sleeve everybody knows that you are packing a laptop and you become a target for getting robbed. Lol

The snowboard strap is a must! Then I can haul my MacBook and board up the mountain with me and beam myself repeatedly falling down directly onto the internet!

Thanks for the input

I've looked into the Ogio, just about bought it, but it doesnt fit my XPS M1530.

I've used a backpack (vaude brand) for the past 4 years and the thing is still going strong, but I cant fit much in it when I have my laptop.

I've looked at the Ogio Boss messenger bag and for a backpack I like the North Face Surge.

I guess the question is, should I go with a messenger bag for dental school?

I use a jansport that I bought on campus which is what I reccomend for you. If you have a laptop take it with you. Mine fits well but my wife's is the max the backpack will hold so make sure it fits.

This is the one I have. Works great. Has a pocket on your left for holding a 32 oz gatorade bottle or one of those plastic water jugs or your coffee mug. There is a puch on the right that EASILY fits my IPOD and the head phones don't get tangled. It could fit more but I don't have more to throw in it. The one odd thing about it is the pouch in the middle of the bag. It has a zipper in the front and one that goes around it. They put some sort of pockets inside that hold about a business card and I don't know why. I put my pens and such in the bottom pouch. Also the perfect place for my glasses.
The thing I like the most about it is size. You have two large areas. One has the sleeve for your laptop with a velcro strap to hold your laptop and quite a few large books but there is also another one in front of it.

You gotta go with one of the Under Armour back packs. Ripstop heavy duty nylon, heavy duty zippers, water resistant (keeps laptop nice and dry), padded laptop pocket, water bottle holders, spot for ipod, wet/dry pocket. I've had one for a few years and it's the best i've ever owned. Super durable
