Just fininshed our last exam and so happy to be done with that! Don't know what to do with myself now...all this available free time!

As you can tell I am in denial about that "B" word...but let me enjoy this fleeting moment of happiness while it lasts 😍

When is the BOARD for you? Mid-March sounds like an early end to M2...

(Congrats, btw! I'm looking forward to the end of this year myself.)

the BOARDS is probably going to suck... but congrats. first hurdle to go is your Step I BOARDS

I always forget that not every med school follows a standard undergrad type semester as much as my school. We started a little earlier than everyone else and we go a few days later in fall semester, but for the most part we follow right along with the same spring break and everything.

Congrats on being done. I still have 2 more exams over 7 weeks, an OSCE, our "comprehensive" (2 weeks of solo review time) and then the B word a month later.

Congrats!

When does MS3 start for you? (ie when do you have to take the boards by?)

Lol that's funny. Way to force me to confront my fears. Thanks for the congrats everyone, and if you're not done yet, you're almost there keep chugging. My date is May 18th; we don't start M3 until the first week of July, but they have this two month long Clinical Skills course that starts May 2nd. Technically we're supposed to take our exam before this session starts, but from what I hear from the current M3's it's super laid back and many people continue studying through this.
Btw, we are not necessarily done early as 1st years still have classes after spring break. This modified schedule allows more time for boards studying in M2, i.e. we have nothing else scheduled from now until May 2nd.

I think CU ended this week as well.

my last day of classes was March 3rd........our 3rd year in the hospital starts May 30th, with a two week "orientation" before that. My step is scheduled for May 5th. Our first year was loooong though, from August 12th to June 18th.

I'm exceedingly jealous. We don't end until May 13th. Rotations start June 6th.

We end May 3rd and start rotations July 5th.

Wow, there is quite a bit of variation. We finished our last class the first week of march. We take the shelves in path and phys the last week of march and have april to take the boards. Rotations start May 3rd.

Not to be a d!ck about it, but boards aren't until the end of residency. Step1/2/3 are licensing exams, not board exams.

Sure -- I was just referring to "the B word," is all. Although I've taken a liking to referring to it as That Mother****er.

But given that it's in reference to an exam comprised of questions submitted by all sorts of medical types and sponsored by the NBME, it's not the worst misnomer in the world. "MCATs" irks me way more.

We finish second year at the end of January, have February off to take Step 1, then start third year clerkships at the beginning of March. It felt awesome being out of the classroom and in the hospital so early!

uvm?

Finish MS2 second week of june.

Have to take USMLE by July 1.

Wtfman

finishing MS2 april 22. step 1 may 19. 3rd yr june 20. 🙁 🙁

yes.. that will be wonderful. the schedule worked out this way due to family issues..grandmother coming from deep deeeeeppp in russia for the last time to america...

Congrats. I'm jealous of you. We also finished last week, but I'm taking the boards at the end of April and we are starting 3rd year the first week of may =(.

Our first year starts the beginning of June and we still end the first week of May for our second year...kinda. We have two weeks of solo study before a comprehensive exam.

Our summer is a little longer though. I actually would much rather start another few weeks early and get done. I hate being on this pseudo undergrad schedule. They give us all sorts of "independent study days" which if we didn't have them, we could probably finish 3 weeks earlier. (Every day is an independent study when you don't go to class)

Wow, such a variation. We are done May 24th, and are required to take Step 1 by June 30 (mine is June 24). We don't start M3 until August 1, with a week long orientation beforehand.

Wow, you guys get out early! We have our last exam April 25th, and start MS3 June 27, I take my step 1 June 18.

I just can't believe how fast the time has flown by so far!

Our school has our last written exams May 2, OSCEs May 3-4th, and we start M3 orientation on June 27. Originally had my boards scheduled for mid-June but pushing it later because my family decided today that my cousin's wedding was more important than me getting a much needed post-Step 1 vacation 🙁 [Granted, an offer was made to join them, but I hate weddings and I hate the city the wedding is taking place in, so I declined - time for Choose Your Own Adventure!]

We finish May 6th, Step June 11, Rotations start July 5th.

Wtf. Its march. Not Mirin' aesthetics 😡

Last day of classes: April 1st
Boards: May 17th
M3: Back on June 1st for a one week orientation, then starting Family Med

Gives me about 6 weeks to study for boards

seeing that other people only have 4 weeks to study for step 1 makes me feel a tiny bit better. we can do it!!

hi OMBD!!!!

Wow, no idea there was this much variability!

Our last Shelf is May 6, Step I has to be taken by June 30 and our first rotation starts August 1.

Our second years took their last exam the Monday before Match Day. I think they have until mid-April to take Step 1, and then they start rotations the first week in May. Or something like that.

We finish second year at the end of January, have February off to take Step 1, then start third year clerkships at the beginning of March. It felt awesome being out of the classroom and in the hospital so early!

We finish second year in mid-December, have to take Step 1 by February 6th, and start rotations the last week in February. Less than a year from now I'll be on the wards. Scary thought....

Haaaaaaa! This reminded me of growing up in Ja and playing the 'B word' game.

Yeah, the amount of variation is really weird, and kind of depressing. Our last exam's May 13th, and 3rd year orientation is June 17th, so we have exactly 5 weeks off between second and third year. 🙁 I'm feeling like a huge slacker for having 5 days off unlike some of my classmates who scheduled their Step 1 so they only have two or three days off.

:hello:

We had our last day of MS2 around the beginning of april and now I'm knee deep in boards studying. ugh kill me now.

I'll be right after you tho OMBD! I'm May 24th. Good luck guys! I advocate for 2013 web reunion! lol

yes! reunion!! i passed my last MS2 exam (does that mean during board studying we are not MS2's? lol) and now im beginning step 1 studying...
in the library as we speak in a freaking quiet room and they are drilling!!! i mean ****ing drilling!! some sign into the wall. im trying to read first aid embryo while they are working and then im gonna do NBME 7 to see where im at now... i hope its better than 200... 🙁

Blargh. We finished today. Have finals all next week (in addition to a comprehensive exam (2 years of curricula)). Boards 5/27. Rotations start 6/6.

Envious of you guys that have so much time off.

At my school it technically means we are MS3 once our NBME comprehensive exams are done. I hate that awkward time where you don't really know how to introduce yourself. We had a month long preceptor during the summer after our first year, which made us MS2, but as you all know...there is a pretty big gap in the knowledge base from beginning to the end of second year. It always felt like I was lying.
