Last minute UIC interview?

Hey all,

I was called by UIC a couple days ago and asked for an interview. My application is below average, and this is very late in the game right? Any ideas for why they would be calling me now, and perhaps chances of getting in? They literally called me days before they wanted the interview. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

May I ask you what your stats are? Sometimes you just get lucky! If they're calling you for an interview, they're not just messing around! Definitely go!

My stats are low:

Dat: 17
GPA: 3.0

I am very surprised seeing as how many others have been rejected with much better stats. I am also very excited to get the chance to actually speak with admissions staff.

Wow! If you don't mind me asking, what is your science GPA? Did you go to UIC for undergrad? Did you apply super early? You definitely did something to set yourself apart, so congratulations!

I went to UIC for my degree. I haven't heard a word from them but when I met with Braulina, she pretty much told me my stats are far below even the waitlisted students.

My science GPA is also 3.0
And I do not go to UIC. I go to a private college in Illinois.
I don't quite understand it myself, but I am not goint to complain 🙂

I have not heard anything from UIC yet, you should be lucky to get one of those interview. I think it might be your recommendation or personal statement that impressed the admission committee. when is your interview? When did you apply? Best of luck!

Hey Turtle,

I too interviewed on Feb. 10th. I can't remember - did you catch when they said that the admissions committee was going to meet next and when we could expect to hear back?

Very interesting! So they accepted you already for the following year? Provided that you complete a 1 year program? Is it at UIC?

Is PB the same GPPA (guaranteed professional program admission) program at UIC?
hm...very interesting.

What exactly does the PB program entail? Had you already enrolled in it prior to your interview?

Probably, he did. And GPPA program is highly competitive and it's for HS students only... you just have to keep the necessary GPA etc. in your undergrad, but you need to take the DAT and go thru interview. In some schools such people get accepted early but this early like OP posted.
