I know this is a very arbitrary question, but i'm looking for some answers anyway.

i submitted my primary app on august 7th, so it should hopefully be verified by amcas by september 7. HOWEVER, i am taking my MCAT on sept 3, and my score will therefor be unavailable to schools until october 5.

i know its late to take the mcat, but i had no choice. i was registered and set for the may date and some very serious family matters required my presence for most of the summer. i score on average around a 32, sometimes higher, on practice tests (aamc)

my cumulative gpa is 3.59 with a very upward trend (frosh3.21,soph 3.44, jun3.84, sen3.93)

i have multiple volunteer ECs at hospitals, emergency rooms, was the VP of a chemistry club, and did research for a year and a half in a neuro lab.

i am also applying to 27 schools and know that my LORs are very good

my point is, have i really bludgeoned myself since my app wont be looked at until october 5? i will have all secondaries done before that.

thank you

There's no question you'll be at a disadvantage due to a later application, but that doesn't mean an accptance is impossible. Hopefully a good number of the schools you applied to are among the least-selective so that you'll get a reasonable amount of consideration there.

Considering that a 3.59/32 gives you a 56.9% chance of an acceptance, and that lateness diminishes that number, I suggest you live this application year as if you know you'll need to reapply. Keep raising your cGPA, continue to build your ECs and add some to bolster weak areas. Send schools update letters to let them know about your improvements. Maybe even retake the MCAT if you score below a 32. A higher MCAT score of 35 would give you a 68.3% chance of acceptance without a GPA increase.

how did you calculate those probabilities of getting in? now i'm curious about what would would say for my stats.
