Hey everybody,

Reading of so many interviews and acceptances from people on SDN has made me nervous about being a late applicant. :scared:

What is to be expected of applicants whose file is completed mid-November? Are there any others out there who applied late?? Maybe we could use this thread to support each other and list progress.

Here's mine so far: two pre-secondary rejections 🙁, three secondaries from schools that screen, and one from a school that sends secondaries to interview invitees 🙂

Anyone else with some news?....

im late applicant too cuz damn lor :-(
i was complete at most schools in nov
got 1 invite

my fiance complete about same time got invite to a school only 10 days of being complete 🙂 yay hehehe

yeah its a bit discouraging with all these 5+ interviews or 5+ acceptances...makes me wish i had applied early, but theres always the carribean ;-)
good luck to all and happy holidays

Don't worry. I was a major procrastinator when I was applying and didn't submit my AAMCAS until early-mid November. I then further compounded the situation by choosing not to fill out most of the secondaries I received (I know, I am probably the world's worst med school applicant 😛 ). However, despite all that I somehow got into a good school. And if I can do it, anyone can, so don't lose hope (and don't be as lazy with secondaries as I was!).

Wow, you applied REALLY late. My applications were complete (secondaries, LORs, and all) mid-November, so you beat me as king/queen of procrastination. 😉

Thanks for the words of encourgement and congratulations on your success.

complete at most schools early/mid-november; 3 invites to ok schools but not ones that I really wanna go to (bottom of my list); 1 hold, 1 post-sec rejection; in the constant email refresh mode these days...

you're lucky...you must've been a wonderful applicant.

i love these types of support groups. i have 18 secondaries in, complete at most places in mid nov. one rejection post sec and radio silence from the rest. when do you other mid-nov types thinks we'll start really hearing about interviews (& rejections)? i'm guessing not til mid jan...

Wait, me too!! Complete at most schools end of october, early november. Then, freaked out at the beginning of december and added some schools right before the Dec 1st deadline... stupid thing to do because I'll porbably never fill out their secondaries!

So far, 1 interview, 2 holds, and 2 post-sec rejections...

Good luck everyone! :luck:

I just sent in my last secondary certification from and fee yesterday 🙂

I had my AMCAS complete in July, but retook the MCAT in August. LORs weren't all sent out until the end of October/beginning of November (and one med school didn't post it as accepted until December 8!!) Secondaries have all been done since September/October. I've heard nothing except one rejection. I feel like I'm sending money through a hole in a brick wall of silence.

I'd have to add that I was complete only recently (beginning of Nov for most schools) and I've already received 3 interview offers. Fortunately one was from the school where I did my post-bac so that helped! I'm sorry to hear about the early rejections but don't forget the interview season is long and schools will consider applicants into late winter/early spring....let's see what happens. Best of luck.

I'm also thinking mid-late Jan to early-Feb if the school likes what they see. I guess hearing from a school as a late applicant is a good sign since they're considering you even after having seen so many other applications. At least we'll know that the school truly likes us, weeding out the schools that don't, and we'll end up somewhere where we'll be happy. 🙂

If you have a strong app (ie: strong GPA, MCAT, LORS) you might be lucky at some schools. If not, I would work on having a plan B. This process sucks. Best of luck though!

I submitted my AMCAS October 31st, one day before the deadline for UNMC. Mine was late as I didn't have the money to apply until that very day! Applied to UNMC, and interviewed there the other day (10th) I have until January 15 to complete my file-just waiting for LOR now. Good luck to everyone! :luck:

Still working on secondaries!!! Oh yeah. Only a few, and they aren't my top choices, but I'm still going to send them off. Just in case..ya know? 2 interview invites...already had one, the other in January. Luckily they are my top two choices. Anyway, January and February should be big for us. Keep the faith!

Thanks for the compliment, but I was probably more a lucky applicant than anything else. 🙂 I probably am a good case study for what not to do when applying to med school (don't take all prereqs, apply late, do a crappy job studying for the MCAT, blow off most secondaries), but even I was able to get into my first choice. So don't lose hope because your secondaries were done in November, because some people are still working on theirs, or at least just submitted them! 🙂
