First of all I had a very minor academic misconduct beginning of my junior year of college and it is on my personal records (not transcript). Since it was a minor case this will be deleted from my record late september.
So I was wondering if it'll be better for me to send the application really late after this record is deleted
OR
just send in the application sooner while disclosing my case.
OR
I guess third option will be sending in the application sooner while not disclosing the case and hoping they don't find out.

What are your opinions?

Well technically, you are supposed to report everything, even if it got expunged from your record. I suppose it depends how bad the misconduct was. I, personally, would probably report it and submit now. Submitting the primary in Sept is quite late. I don't think any school would contact yours before September, but if you submit and don't report it now, you've got to be absolutely sure that it will be expunged and soon. That could really come back and bite you. I would really advise against submitting so late, but you've got to do what you feel most comfortable with. If it's really not that bad, report it and I really don't think it will hurt you much.

well the penalty was receiving F on the homework portion (which was five percent of the total grade; I received B for the course overall). The exact date for the deletion will be around 27 of september. I feel like it's such a minor thing that if I explain what happened it'll be ok but I also feel like any academic misconduct is a red flag.

Waiting until the end of September is not a good idea IMO. The primary does give a nice little space to explain what happened. I would know, I had to explain why I was on probation for a year. I'm one of those people who thinks honestly is the best policy, but maybe it's not in your best interest here. I doubt any school will throw out an app without at least reading the description of the misconduct. I know at some schools they have a separate committee go through the disciplinary/criminal action and deem whether it's bad enough. It is not bad, they just forget about it for the rest of the application season. But I don't know if it's like that everywhere.

Any other opinions from other users?

I would wait until September. It's pretty late though, like ksmi said.

I understand that lying is not the way to do about things but I was just wondering how much it'll hurt my application with the disclosure and if it will increase my chance into acceptance with non disclosure. Because if I was in the committee, I would certainly accept the one w/o the record rather than the one with.

how about contacting a few individual schools directly?

Yes, it sucks. But you did it. Sometimes we've just got to (wo)man up to our decisions and take responsibility. Even in September, you'd still be lying. The question asks if you've ever gotten in trouble, not if your trouble in on record somewhere.

So will applying late august w/o disclosing work since it'll take time for process? I'm still undecided about what to do about this but just wanted to know all my options

If you have the MCAT nailed, the impact of having this minor record show up on your app will be minimal.

soooo.... did you get caught copying someone's homework and thats why you got an F on that portion? No matter what, I would never SUGGEST someone apply late on purpose. Be honest and apply early and pray for the best.

Agreed. If it was all that bad, your school wouldn't be expunging it.

No it was more like other kid verifying his answer to mine... So I guess applying my primary around mid to late august and sending the secondary soon as possible wouldn't be so bad? (I also am taking MCAT on july so my score will be back around mid august) thank you for your responses.

That's not bad at all. I really don't think reporting it will be detrimental to your app.

It seems like you've already got your mind set not to report it since you're still planning on applying around the time your record will be expunged.

For me, I would report it because you can grow from this experience. Yea, its something bad that you did, but if you show that you learned from it AND you were (wo)man enough to put it on your app, I think at least that much is admirable.

Just tell the truth and submit your app ASAP.
