Hi all,

I am planned to take my DAT in the next 2 weeks however I may or may not push it back depending on how I feel by the end of next week. If I push it back and take it the last week of July, and submit my application to a few schools for it to get processed this week and then the rest of the schools in a week or two, will I be considered late? I am retaking the DAT. I have a lower end GPA of 3.48. What are my chances assuming I get a 20+ on the DAT retake? And would I be late if I end up pushing my date back a week or two?! Thank you!

I don't think so. I would submit to a few schools now as it seems like it's starting to take longer to get verified...Submit to a few now, take your DAT at the end of July, then immediately add more schools and you can also put your unofficial scores into your app and email a copy of your score report out to the schools. The only thing you'll be waiting for is having your scores go unofficial -> official, which can take up to three weeks. All said and done, you'd be complete about mid-August BUT you might get interview invites as soon as you've submitted your unofficial scores to schools.

tl;dr: Submit now, push it back, submit more later and email unofficial scores to schools. Then sit tight 🙂

When did you submit your application? By the looks of it you took your DAT early August and you were successful last cycle.

Says in sig but I submitted primaries on 8/24, finished my secondaries in September, with my last one (LLU) submitted on 10/5.
Took the DAT 8/9 but was only successful because it was so high that it offset the lateness of my app. I wasn't going to apply if I didn't get what I did on it haha

Applying late is a gamble, which really/only/pretty much depends on your DAT score. If you can push it back and score well, then do it! Aim for the highest possible score.

*EDIT: Forgot to add that I only submitted after my DAT was official, which happened on 8/23...I worked on my application and PS from 8/10-8/23, and submitted 8/24. I was verified in 3 business days (8/29)...so I was fully complete on 8/29 and got my first interview invite on 9/6!

Yeah I'm planning on submitting by the end of this week so the transcript gets verified. Everything is in except the transcript which I sent last week. And if I take the DAT last week of July, you can upload unofficial scores on the application then email a copy to the schools? Also which schools give you interview invites after unofficial scores? Ive never heard that. I havent pushed it back yet but after see how I do the next few days I may or may not. I really do not want to however my range for many sections has been a 17-19 on Bootcamp and I really need to get a 20+.

Yeah cause on the application, you'll only be able to put numbers in, when I said email I meant scan your unofficial score report and attach it, and email it out to schools saying something like "I took my DAT recently (_/_/2018), and attached is my unofficial score report. I was wondering if it could be added to my application file as my official scores are processed."

I know Iowa does, and I read recently on a post that I think an East Coast school does as well (either Columbia or Rutgers, or I might be completely wrong and it's another school...I don't remember 🙁)

I think schools might consider you more seriously when they have your unofficial scores...like they might put you in a queue to have you invited for an interview if they know your unofficial scores and know you're just waiting for them to become official. Also if you email them your unofficial scores, it's like reminding them "Hey! I'm still here! Look at me! I'm gunna be complete soon!" 🙂

haha yeah that definitely makes sense! Im just super worried because I really feel like I need an extra week or so to get through destroyer and all the bootcamp exams and with my low GPA really don't want to be a late applicant. Thank you! 🙂
