I recently got an invite on the first week of January (probably the last batch of interviews to go out). Does a late invite indicate that you are also in the last batch of applicants of interest (meaning you are invited because some people dropped their invites)? I am contemplating on going on one because it is going to cost me around 600 bucks and although I do consider the program very strongly, the fact that I got the invite late makes me wonder if I will ranked low on their list or not ranked at all (and thus, most likely a waste of 600 bucks than an investment). Opinions/thoughts?

This exact question has been asked and answered roughly 7 hojillion times on SDN, including in this active thread in the ERAS forum.

There are very few guarantees about the Match process but I can promise you one thing with 100% certainty. If you do not go on this interview, you will definitely not match at that program.

They invited you, they're thinking about ranking you (if you bother to show up). End of discussion.

Thanks gutonc. Was wondering the same thing and this was helpful info.

I feel like the same questions probably get asked at least annually in this forum. It's somewhat difficult to go back and find exactly what you're looking for, so the link to the ERAS thread was super helpful. 👍
