Late Interviews: What was the decision?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
interviewed Feb 4th @ KU, accepted March 10th. 👍 First and so far only acceptance.
Nice congrats frikarika!
I interviewed at KU the week after (rescheduled because I wasn't able to make it that final interview week so I didn't think my chances were very good) and got accepted March 10th too! I didn't think my second one went that well, but I guess I was wrong.

I think if schools are still interviewing, they still have some spaces.

I interviewed at U Pitt on 2/4 and was admitted this weekend! I interviewed at J. Hopkins on 2/7 and haven't heard.

Hey so did I! Biggest interview group I've ever been in....but I got waitlisted🙁

bumping cause im getting nervous 😳

what? no one has anything? has there just been silence from schools for the last month?

Maryland - 1/23 - hold
SLU - 2/19 - waitlist
Georgetown - 2/20 - ?
Drexel - 3/12 - ?

did you hear anything from your 2/20 interview?

Hey, thanks for the interest. No, haven't heard anything. I have given it some thought. Congrats on getting into your state school, pretty great.

Jeff Feb 20th accepted
WK Feb 12 wait listed
NYMC Feb 14 nothing yet
USC Apr 8 .....

Penn: 2/8 (Last Day): Waitlisted

Harvard: 2/29 (Third to last day): Acccepted

Who knows how these things work.

So I had 2 of my only 3 interviews in the month of February. The other one in early January resulted in Alternate List Notification @ UMDNJ-NJMS.

Results thus far:

Creighton = 2/01; Waitlisted 2/19
UMDNJ-RWJMS = 2/21; Scheduled to be on adcom agenda 3/25 and still waiting for decision

I was wondering if anybody knows officially if RWJMS has already filled its class so I can get a realistic picture if I can still get in or not. When I was first invited for my interview, they said that they had a backlog of applicants to still invite and interview after me and this was 2/21. Basically, they still had a lot to do.

I can't tell whether late interviews are mostly becoming waitlists or not. There seems to be a decent amount of people getting acceptances from late interviews. It's making me feel better 🙂

Michigan State interview (my alma mater) 2/21: rejection

Saint Louis interview 2/5: waitlist

U Buffalo interview 4/30: TBD

Interviewed at UCSF in early February -> high priority list for further consideration. I'm supposed to hear something in late April.

I'd say don't loose hope if you've got a later interview. I got an interview invite from Stanford for 3/4 and they called me 3/21 with an acceptance. If anything I think files are getting processed faster now. So...:luck:

RWJMS: 2/21 Interview; 3/26 Letter Stating that I am in the Very Competitive Category and a decision on acceptance or placement on the alternate list will be made in April 2008. Did anybody else get this?

😱 Congrats! I interviewed 3/5 with no word yet...

Interviewed March 13 at Dartmouth and got accepted by snail mail yesterday (March 31)

Interview 3/5 at Stanford. Waitlisted today.

so to answer my own thread...i got waitlisted today from a 2/21 interview at GW. boooooo

Anybody else got interviewed from late Feb onward at RWJMS and is also on the very competitive category?

SUNY upstate 2/18- waitlist
Tufts 2/21- active consideration
UCSD 3/6- acceptable pool
Albany 3/27- 'still considering' category
yup, not bad news but not necessarily great either

I just want to bump this thread so that people can how happy these people were last year with their late interviews and subsequent acceptances.
Who needs early interviews and early acceptances.

Sorry to hear that. Did you get in anywhere last cycle, or are you having to repeat?

Thanks! I'm repeating. For my two cents, I dont think it was the lateness that did me in, but its another data point ...

What do you think did you in? Any luck this year?

Just to add something encouraging to the thread, these were the interviews I had after the new year and their outcomes:

Rochester 1/11ish: Waitlisted
Maryland 1/13ish: Waitlisted, then accepted end of May
OHSU 3/11: Waitlisted, then accepted end of June

Late interviews aren't always a bad thing 🙂

Just curious, what are the stats of everyone who is interviewing later in the cycle?

NYMC 3/26/08

Wailisted in May -> rejected August

Well, I am bumping this thread up again in the angst of another dramatic finish to this year's cycle.

Last year, I had one interview in Jan and two in Feb. Unfortunately, they all resulted in waitlists and a later rejection at around the matriculation of each school's incoming class.

This year, I am proud to say I will finally be attending medical school. The only question is whether it will be a DO or MD school. I already have an acceptance in hand from UMDNJ-School of Osteopathic Medicine.

However, I am still awaiting a decision from Drexel. I had my interview on 4/2 and the admissions office is expecting to notify me in 6-8 weeks of that date. So hopefully between the end of April and the middle of May, I will be seeing a much clearer picture of where I will be headed.

I interviewed at Jeff on 3/18 and just got put in the High Priority category.

Interview at UCF in March=top 1/3 of waitlist. Probably wont get off, though.

Interviewed at Albany 3/18 = Under Consideration

Interviewed at Tufts 3/24 = Accepted yesterday

I turned in my secondaries very late (Nov/Dec), so I only had late interviews: Two in the same week in the middle of January (accepted at both), two in February (waitlisted and rejected - apparently not a great month), and two in March (accepted, waiting for a response) - oddly enough, two of those acceptances are at schools with rolling admissions. Still, it's probably not a bad idea to get your applications in early if you can.

Interviewed at SLU 1/12 = Waitlist

Interviewed at Northwestern 2/3 = Acceptance

Interviewed 3/11 Rush - accepted

Interview 4/13 Albany - I'll let you know in a few weeks 🙂
