Hi,

I was among the millions of ppl affected by the recent hurricane in Houston/the gulf coast and haven’t had power. I have barely been able to survive with my pets, temperature sensitive items, etc and finding places to keep them. I am approaching the 2 week deadline for many of my secondaries. Applications have been the last thing on my mind with dealing with this stress. How understanding are admissions officers if things are late? Is it worth mentioning somewhere the impacts of the hurricane and why things are getting submitted late?

Not an Adcom but I am sure they would be understanding if you mention your situation. For schools that typically have a harder deadline for secondary submission I would reach out to ask for an extension/at least keep them in the loop.

Seriously, don't worry about it. Email the admissions teams and ask if they suggest how long you can "delay" your deadline. Stabilize your situation, but then adhere to those other deadlines.
