Hello guys,

So far I have filled out 6 secondaries and have 3 left which are AT SOMA, WESTERN-POMONA, PCOM. Is it worth it to even send out the secondaries or is it a waste of money at this time? Western requires DO shadowing in order for their secondary to completed which I won't have done till the 28th so that will be the last secondary that I will be able to fill up. My stats are a 513 MCAT and 3.43 GPA with a upwards trend on the GPA. Thank you for the input.

I think you are fine with your high stats for DO. I haven't filled out some of my secondaries either (though I'm debating sending them in this week).

Go to the library and knock out those secondaries ASAP. It doesn't take long, and will increase your chances!

I'm 3.8/35 and submitting secondaries now. Just did my DO shadowing, and awaiting LOR turn in. Everything I've read says we are okay, but sort of in the "orange zone". December being Orange-red and January being the bright red "late" month.

You can apply over the summer and get in that fall semester.

semisrs

Do people actually successfully do this? Applying so late and still getting in? (thanks in advance; I'm a bit clueless)
No, I'm kidding. Only works for Carib. However, I'd say you still have a great chance in Jan or Feb if you are waiting for an MCAT score (and scored >90 percentile), your GPA is solid (like 3.7 w/o a lot of retakes), and your EC's and LORs are solid.

Every step of applying DO has been a godsend compared to applying MD. If what you're saying is true you're topping my sunday with a second sunday. I feel so bad for the students that actually believe "admissions/secondary deadlines" as the websites project.

Seriously though, when did you apply MD and when where you complete? 3.8/35 SHOULD get you at least some II if everything else is solid. Unless you are in Cali then I'm so sorry for you.

Complete by early to mid august. Currently have 1 MD II, and yes I am from California. The gritty details are all in a WAMC post that you can find through my profile.

Apply to some DO schools you really want to go to, but other than that, I think it's just playing the waiting game now.

"my stats are 4.0/40"

"omg you're good, where are you from?"

"cali"

"lol, get on those retakes"

Seriously though, if you can get them submitted ASAP I think you should be fine. Your stats are good (both posters). Personally I would submit secondaries late over waiting another cycle every time.

Hello! Looks like there are people like me lol. I just submitted my DO primaries today. Looks like I will be submitting my secondaries late December or maybe even later.

Also from California (went to Cal), submitted 28 secondaries to MD schools, 6 rejections and no interviews yet.

According to AACOMAS standards my cGPA and sGPA are 3.5 and 3.48. I have two old MCAT scores of 30 and 31 (12PS, 7,8 VR, 11 BS)

Seriously hoping for some interviews either from MDs or DOs.
