Latest Date to Apply for Residency

Fot those of you who went the process, realistically what is a late submission date for a US med student to submit? Is mid October considered too late?My step 1 score wasn't great so I need a better Step 2 score which is why I'm applying later.I'm applying for mid tier IM programs.

quit procrastinating and send in your app== not worth waiting for your step 2 score!

The reason I was waiting wasn't procrastinating. I had a bad Step 1 score and I don't want to have my application rejected just based on that which was why I wanted to wait for my step 2 score which I know will be much better. But I don't want to apply too late which why I was asking about a late application date.

I'd say October is probably pushing it.
