Learning Peds in 4 Weeks

Hi,

Title pretty much says it all, but how would you guys go about studying for the peds shelf in a little less than 4 weeks (semi-intense).

I browsed the peds shelf thread, but there's no real consensus. Anyone use UW? BRS?

I liked Casefiles and Blueprints. Among my friends though, I think I'm the only one who liked Blueprints. I read each one twice in 4 weeks and annotated my FA for CK peds section. I've heard that Pretest is great for the peds shelf. My sister just used that, Casefiles and Blueprints, and she liked all of them.

I used CaseFiles, UW q's, Kaplan, and some CLIPP cases. I got a 90 raw which is my highest score on a shelf.

I felt like there was a lot of medicine/surgery/trauma on my test and very little genetics/developmental crap.

I liked casefiles and pretest. The FA for Peds clerkship also looked pretty good.

Case Files, Pretest, UWorld questions, and the blue boxes from Blueprints. There were a lot of buzzwords on the Peds shelf, like strawberry tongue = Kawasaki's, etc. I made it about 1/2 way through Case Files and did all the rest. Raw of 92.

Case files is good for bread and butter. I also used pre-test, but there is WAY too much in there... if you use it don't get too caught up in the details. UWorld was solid as usual. I think I may have also used Kaplan Qbook. 97 raw.

From what I could remember, Blueprints was OK. I'd skim it and nothing more. Other posters were smart and honed in on the blue boxes only.

I thought case files was great and awesome to carry around on floors. (There was a lot of downtime during my rotation)

PreTest is the must buy. Combine PreTest and Case Files and you should be in good shape.

The exam itself is rumored to be challenging but I thought it was fairly manageable. Lots of "buzz words" to lead you to the right answer if you've read through case files or answered sample questions on PreTest. I was able to finish with time to spare and even got a chance to review 25 questions (usually I'm working up until the buzzer for my shelfs) Score was ~90.
