''Least" important MCAT section?

I know a lot of people here would probably agree that the VR section is the most looked at section. How about the other two, BS and PS ? I would think BS would be the most important of the two since the material tested in that section is closest to the material you will be encountering. So if you had these scores, 10, 8, and a 6, what sections would you match them up with and why? I would have, 10 VR, 8 BS and a 6 in PS .

This has been discussed a lot. The consensus is that PS/BS are dependent on how much you study for them while VR tests your general reasoning from given information.

Schools vary on what they think is important. I have emailed schools on this issue myself and they have told me their minimums are higher for the sciences than VR generally, despite what they say about VR being extremely important.

It's funny that Kaplan and many others preach about how VR is looked at so closely but if in my first hand research and interactions with admissions and interviews only BS has ever been mentioned

Least important is the writing section.

VR I think is one of those things that reflects well if you score high but doesn't burn you if it's your lower score.

I've heard writing isn't closely scrutinized. If you score high, it looks nice, but if you score a little below average, that's fine. Getting a horrible score, on the other hand, may raise some red flags. I think VR comes in second, based on talking to other students and faculty.

The weight given to VR is too much IMO. Studies time and time again show that the VR section has the least correlation with COMLEX and USLME scores (and probably even the first two years of medical school).

It is really a tie between BS and VR from the adcoms standpoint. Some will say BS is the most important and others will say VR.

The weight given to VR is too much IMO. Studies time and time again show that the VR section has the least correlation with COMLEX and USLME scores (and probably even the first two years of medical school).

I don't know, I think recent studies and the meta prove that relevance is: BS > VR> PS.
