I have not started any research yet, and I probably will in three months.

But I don't know who my mentor is and what the project will be.

Should I just make up any information? I know that lying and falsifying information on the application is a no-no.

But I'm thinking that leaving the research portion of the application will make my application look bad.

Some dentists I've talked to said that the research portion of the application are mainly for research-oriented dental schools, such as Harvard and the Univ of California schools.

No don't make it up!! It won't look bad if you dont have research--its worse to lie about it!

Sounds like you're contradicting yourself there. Just don't do it. Don't come here asking if its okay to lie on your application either. JUST DON'T DO IT.

Not everyone, including myself, has done research and it's really not that big of a deal. 🙂 Just leave this section blank.

Also, my awards section was blank tooo. Gosh I guess I was lucky to be accepted at all.. 😳

It just proves that other parts of the application are much more important 🙂

i don't think it's worth the trouble you might face.

o

I'm not asking whether I should lie, but I will be doing research sometime this year, and don't know what to put down in the research portion of the application.

I will start in September, but I don't know who my mentor is, and what the research will be.

I will also be submitted my application in a week or so.

Dont worry so much about that right now because you haven't started your research or know what its about. When you do secondaries, then you can add your research there! Both UC's have secondaries...not sure about Harvard.

BTW, where are you doing your research at??

Probably at a local hospital in my area. However, my damn professor for Human Phys won't respond to my emails. I guess he thinks that since the semester is over, he doesn't have to bother responding to his students. Such a horrible professor. I heard from rumors that he's a jerk to students because he couldn't get into med school.

I don't have any research experience, but since i'm residence
of calif. i'm trying to apply UCLA and UCSF. Is it really hard
to get in to those schools without research experience?

So why do you need him to do research at a local hospital? And why do research at all with him if he's a jack*ss?

hell yeah, that's the last person you wanna do research with!!!!!

agreed. you have started 2 threads today and each of them you mention how much of a jackass this prof. is. so my questions to you are:

1. why in the world you want to do research with a jackass?, and
2. what makes you think you have this research in the bag if this prof. isn't responding to your e-mails?

if you list this research on your application and it doesn't fall through, then you're screwed.

I put in every research paper i ever did. No one asked me about it but it wasn't blank.

I had a research paper on:
oral cancer
gettysburg
cloning

put them in there it wont hurt

I have zero research experience. Yes that is correct, absolutely zero. I left that portion on the AADSAS completely blank (and like you I was worried). Don't worry too much about it, schools know that some just have no passion for research while some love research more than anything. In the end, I still got in to my schools of choice.

True, its not like research is a minimum requirement for admission!

No no no! I don't want to do research with that jackass professor of mine. But outside of class, he conducts research at a particular hospital in my area, and wanted him to provide me some contact information so I can start in the middle of the summer. From what he's explained in class, some of the research the hospital does sounds very sophisticated and interesting. Hence I keep asking him for information. Now, since the semester is over, he doesn't respond to any of my emails.

However, I will hunt him down tomorrow because I found out from the Biology department that he teaches summer school in the evening hours.
