LECOM...A different school.

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yeah I felt the same way when I went there for interview. The students giving us the guide were kind of apathetic about the school. And kept restating that it’s the only school they got accepted to. I was really excited at first but after hearing from the faculty and the students I wasn’t very impressed

Ah they need to raise tuition by 100k over 4 years (thus bringing it on par with other private dental schools) so that they can hire better PR staff, which won’t improve dental education!

Felt similar "weird" vibes at BU. Never checked out LECOM though
My experience at BU wasn’t like that at all. Faculty was extremely friendly and the students I met during the tour and lunch were very very cool and open about their experience at BU. My tour guide had a great personality too and spoke about the importance of proper patient communication. Although I won’t be attending, to each his own.

This was my experience at LECOM as well. Faculty and staff were very energetic and welcoming, but the students just acted very "meh." The few I talked to just didn't seem like they wanted to paint the school in the best possible light. For example, I remember a fellow interviewee asking a student how LECOM was compared to its reputation (a fairly softball question IMO) and the student said LECOM has its' problems and quirks, but it's okay sometimes. Like, I appreciate the honesty and maybe the student was just having a bad day as well, but it doesn't reflect favorably on your school if the most glowing thing you could say was "it's okay sometimes."

I never said nobody was ever unfriendly / not cool at the school

I felt the exact same way! The faculty and staff were unnaturally energetic (seemed forced) about the school and PBL in general and then the students that spoke to us seemed like they only went to LECOM because it was the only school they got into. One student told me that the students like PBL because it’s easy and they don’t need to put forth much effort and another told me that he would have gone to another school had he had the opportunity. I just though the school, as beautiful as it was, had a very weird vibe
