They are both relatively new programs but my own opinion would be to go with LECOM-B.

Is there something special about LECOM-B that NOVA doesn't have? I'm confuse on this issue because it seem like their curriculum and focus are very much alike; so just wondering if you could give me your 2cents base on your opinion. Thank!

hey can I ask you what was your gpa & pcat score so i can kind of get an idea of what they are looking for? thank!

Living in Davie (where Nova is) will be much much more expensive than in Bradenton. Nova is a giant campus, absolutely huge. If you like the idea of a huge school and lots of people it's good for you. If you want a small school, Lecom is for you. A lot more should go into the decision than what other people deem to be a "better" school. Practicality, ability to move there, affordability, etc all should play a larger role. All pharmacy schools are pretty much the same (imo) since the curriculum is standardized. Chose the school that is most practical for you and not on other people's opinions of it's prestige.

Congrats on your acceptances.😀

Hey!! well i finished all my prereqs in 2 years(fulltime summer and second career) and i have been fortunate enough to have a gpa of 3.8+, i took my pcats in october and i received an 89...
i went to a CC for my prereqs as well.
I live in beautiful sunny south florida, if i get accepted to both schools it will be very difficult to chose which one, i prefer Lecom's smaller class and clinically minded program, not to take anything from nova which also has numerous residency programs. It will be less expernsive for me to live at home and attend nova but i am very attracted to Lecom for some odd reason??go figure

For residency, you apply for an match - nationally. I don't think any one school has programs another can't get into. But, going to some schools will help you get into residencies more so than others.

Other than personal preference, nope. It's just that feeling.

Lecom is more expensive than Nova. I would go to Nova if I live close to it because I will save so much money.

Yeah but you have to take other matters into consideration. Davie is very very very expensive to live in. The affordable areas are scary. Bradenton is dirt cheap to live. That minor discrepancy in their tuition is made up in cost of living.

LECOM-B was my second choice had I not gotten into LECOM-E. From what I saw, the place was dirt-cheap and you get to live in a resort like setting. Ahhh, if only they offered a three-year program. 😉

Well I will be an instater and from their respective websites the tuition for nova and lecom are basically the same...about 19-20k
And yes living near davie is very expensive, not just the housing but the overall cost of living is tremendous compared to bradenton

I'm the oddball who's been complete since probably....june or july..but haven't followed up on too many schools since I was pretty set on USUHS until I realized they weren't going to respond. I still haven't heard anything definitive since then and I interviewed back in Oct. but as soon as I sent my fall grades to schools, BOOM, I get all kinds of responses and 2 interviews from LECOM & NOVA. I'm concerned since my numbers are on the low end due to some crappy orgo 2/physics grades (bc duke science classes are designed to 'weed out' premeds...our orgo exam avg was around 30% most of the time)...i think my sci/math gpa is around 3.2ish and my overall is 3.44...mcat of 26P. soooo just wondering what my chances are at lecom/nova/etc places.....being in AFROTC I'm doing HPSP so all "paid for" and etc....have a backup job as a behavioral scientist (psych major/writing thesis/etc)....but definitely want to go into medicine...and I'm thinking more now DO/MPH. As far as my app goes, the only weak points are my sci grades, which have pulled down my overall GPA....i've gotten mainly B's then a few not-so-hot grades in the above mentioned classes. i have tons of ECs/ROTC awards/leadership/etc....and the other interviews I've had have gone extremely well, I think it's just that some adcoms just can't shake my numbers.

Also..........anyone interviewing thurs (1/29) -- email me! / PM me/ whatever.

Super Ducer,
I don't think Lecom-B has anything special over Nova, but I would have to agree with qwead. For me it was just a feeling. When I interviewed at Lecom-b, it just felt like a right fit for me. Now that I have finished my first semester at LECOM-B I do not regret my decision at all. I live only 30 minutes from Nova, and I would never trade Bradenton. As a pharmacy program, we are just a very tight group and I am thankful for the second years and everything they did for us throughout our first year of school. I think the bond that are school shares is very hard to find anywhere and for me that is what made the difference in choosing. Although I am sure Nova has great pros as well, I just did not get the same feel throughout the the four pharmacy classes as i did in LECOM-Bradenton.

I just received my packets for both schools and it seems that Nova is more expensive. Their tuition last year for Instaters jumped up from 18500 to 21500, while in Lecom their last year tuition of 18500 only jumped up to 19050 for this year(only 500). OOS is consistent as well, the OOS Nova tuition this year is 23K, while Lecom is only 21K....and their cost of education is much more expensive in Nova, living in campus(Nova) they predict your living expenxes to be about 16-18+K, while it is only about 8K for Lecom....overall if you already rent now, like myself it would be actually cheaper to live in Bradenton. My friend in NOva says that it is not uncommon for Nova to up their tution every year.
