Hi everyone! I currently hold acceptances at both LECOM-Bradenton and NSU-KPCOM Fort Lauderdale campus with deadlines for tuition deposits in about a week! A little background, I am a Florida resident living on the east coast of Florida, so NSU-KPCOM is definitely closer to me but I am just trying to get some feedback on what other people think! I will provide some pros and cons to both schools that I have come up with so far. I am aware both of these programs have some "bad" reputations. I do have acceptances at CUSOM and Midwestern Chicago as well but figured as a Florida resident, I might as well stay if I can. Any help or feedback is appreciated!
EDIT: I am still waiting for some MDs (I am currently on one waitlist and awaiting one decision), I just am trying to figure out the program worth giving the deposit to since the deadline is coming up
LECOM-Bradenton
Pros
-Cheap
-Highest board scores from any DO programs (98%)
-Don't have to sit in lectures all day
-get to work with real cadavers (pre-dissected)
Cons
-only PBL curriculum (heavily reliant on textbook reading by yourself)
-farther from family and where I currently live
-schedule can be all over the place (some days you have morning classes and some days you have late afternoon, makes it difficult to have a set schedule)
-no foods or drinks anywhere in the buildings except the cafeteria (so if you want to study inside, you stay thirsty or hungry apparently according to a student I spoke to)
-only professional attire
-rotations are all over the country and I heard that students are left to find their rotation sites themselves which is kind of stressful
NSU-KPCOM Fort Lauderdale
Pros
-Close to family
-Powerpoints rather than strictly textbook and PBL
-Lectures are not mandatory (they are recorded and you can also watch them live)
-can wear scrubs to class
-majority of rotations sites are in Florida
Cons
-low board pass rates (89%)
-3D virtual anatomy rather than using real cadavers
-Some issues with scheduling where you can end up behind due to the timing of when they make classes etc (ex. They continue to teach lectures for a future exam before you have taken the previous exam)
