Yes, at most schools it pays off, but in this instance it means instead of taking freshman courses I can handle, I have to take several advanced courses and maintain a minimum 3.4
Albany College of Pharmacy posts a warning on College Board, in part which says..."it is not always in the student's best interest to have credit awarded, esp for science courses".
Plus, if I took took this course of action, ended up with a 3.3 GPA, I am not accepted at LECOM and also lack the freshman Chem, Calc, etc. courses needed to transfer to other colleges such as SJF who do not accept AP credit for science courses.
Thanks for your reply!
That's the problem-- two of the six prepharmacy college counselors I've spoken to insist I cannot take freshman chem, calc, etc. They say I must take the more advanced courses, some of which are not even prerequisites required by LECOM, i.e. Calc II
But then there's the other counselors, who say I have a choice. Even amongst the individual colleges, counselors in the same dept have given me different advice.
If LECOM posted this information, I could refer to the policy when speaking to the prepharmacy colleges. The only AP info LECOM has posted is that they do accept AP credits.
Has anyone from LECOM-Erie been through this?
I hate to give up on this, but may be better off applying to Albany and others where the policy is clear.
Yes, thanks, that's a good idea to explore.
The prepharmacy college counselors agree that all policies are set by LECOM, not them. They just don't agree with what the policy is regarding my dilemma.
I have contacted LECOM more than once, and again, get different advice each time.
Seeing a LECOM policy online regarding not using AP credits could clear it all up...
Thanks for your help!
