I can't find a thread to answer my question that has been posted in the past 5 years... so here it goes...

I've been accepted to LECOM-Erie (LDP) and my deposit is due in 2 weeks. I also have an interview coming up at AZCOM in about a week. I will be sending in my deposit to LECOM for sure because I don't want to risk losing my spot, but I'm wondering if I should drop $$ to interview at AZCOM if I will end up choosing LECOM-E in the end anyway.

I've read many positive and negative (and some very biased?) comments about both schools. I don't know what AZCOM has to offer that LECOM-E doesn't have (besides the weather, of course).

LECOM-E's rules don't bother me enough to turn me away from attending. I'm not a huge fan of snow, but again, it's not a big enough reason for me to choose a med school and my career over. Location & cost aren't my biggest concerns either.

They both have great board scores, and I think they will both prepare me for the boards.

I'm mostly concered about 3rd/4th year rotations. At which school will I have better experience as a 3rd/4th year?

Also, at which school will I have clinical exposure opportunities in the first 2 years? I know that LECOM-E has H&P for the first two years, but I don't know what AZCOM uses to prepare students for their rotations?

Any input (esp. from current LECOM-E and AZCOM students) would be appreciated!!!

LECOM only gives you two weeks to decide? I thought they follow the normal rules by AACOMAS, ie. giving you will mid December to decide. AZCOM is a lot more expensive but many graduates get residencies in Western States, so if that is something you want to consider.

They give you 30 days to send in the $1500 deposit. I found out about the acceptance 2 weeks ago.

LECOM's cheap tuition relative to azcom is enough reason for me.

AZCOM is 45K/year, with the contingency for the tuition to raise 2K every year you are enrolled. That is one chunk o' change.

LECOM-E is one of the cheapest DO schools around at 27K/year.

AZCOM Tuition alone for 4 years approx $192,000

LECOM-E Tuition alone for 4 years approx $108,000

LECOM-E will be approx 84K cheaper over four years for tuition alone.

But does AZCOM have better and/or more stable rotation sites? I heard that at LECOM-E, rotations sites can get dropped at the last minute, leaving students scrambling 3rd/4th year.

Is that extra tuition money worth going to a better (?) school?
