l e c o m is not only the biggest school (what seems to be presented in every lecom connection magazine), but its culture is so influential that has made it into literature.
That culture is depicted in a book titled Panic in a Suitcase by Yelena Akhtiorskaya. You can find it on amazon or in the great Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. I simply could not believe myself when I found out about this.

I don't know if it's true but wouldn't be surprised if its largest in enrollment size combining all 3 campuses.

I don't get the book link?

Why do so many people write l e c o m instead of LECOM or lecom? Are they typing L|E|C|O|M and it's just not formatting correctly?

No one writes p c o m or a z c o m or k c o m.

This is the text describing the school experience. It could be describing the first few years, possibly around that famous time when many students transferred out.

Those probably weren't PBL students.

Honestly, if the school only loosened up their rules a bit (which add nothing to the educational experience, and turn away good applicants), they would be much more popular.

Its either the pillar thing or people trying to hide the fact that they are talking about the school.

Now that I think about it, we did get a talk sometime during orientation about how we aren't authorized to use the "LECOM" name except in certain circumstances and with approval. Don't know how much that's really enforced, because people in my class pretty much don't care. I'm just an MS2 though...

That was only the first class or so that had a lot of people leave, right?

I know plenty of non-asian/indian grads from that time (first couple classes) that did fine in the school. In general that passage rubbed me the wrong way. Not the stuff about the school, I can buy that, but the other stuff.

Definitely true. Two things hurt LECOM: rules & location (LECOM-B as a result gets slightly more competitive people - but the clown displays and rules seem to scare people away). Rules aren't changing anytime soon though.

I think most institutions have a rule like this regarding theuse of an official typeface or seal or logo, but to try to prevent people fromusing your name seems a little overkilland basically unenforceable, like you said.

If I started publishing things with my school's official logo, I thing they would rightfully be upset... but I don't see how they could prevent me from simply referring to them.

I kind of agree with your thoughts on the passage regarding Indian/Asian students. It's a tired stereotype. Maybe that page in the book would be better in context.

Overkill? But that's the l e c o m way!

Butthurt screeds in a (probably self-published/vanity press) pulp novel do not count as literature. I certainly don't expect to see this on any bestseller lists.

As long as the people trashing LECOM are doing it so ineptly and for such superficial reasons, their immaturity will just validate my choice to attend there. I'm glad I saw that hate website that people had made before it was taken down. It really made me more confident about applying there. The caliber of the arguments made there and the unprofessionalism displayed there was a pretty solid argument for the school. After all, if people like that hated it, it must be a good place.

Oh, you mean the Weha Telecom site? I wonder if they offer unlimited data plans...

... I am sure the fact that it was the only school you got accepted to played no part in this valiant and defiant "choice" you made. Yea, I checked your post history.

I just read the novel page mentioning lecom you posted. Nothing new. It's true for all medical schools. If it wasn't, then every one would be a doctor. Her daughter was just whining.

That is some very specific vitriol. If she didn't flunk out, she was very, very close to someone who did.
