I'm a pre-dental student and was accepted into both programs. I'm leaning more towards MC since I'm actually granted a Master's degree after 1 yr vs just a certificate at LECOM. I was wondering what ya'll thought of both of them.

MC: cheaper; can gain residency & apply to UMC since they only take in-staters; actual Master's degree; nothing to do in Clinton, MS but to study. LOL.

LECOM: more recognized; obviously LECOM would be the place to go if I were to go to med school or pharmacy school, but I'm not

Any pre-dents who completed/are in LECOM's post-bacc program care to chime in? How do dental schools view this program?

Hey there..im very interested in this program as well..I spoke with Dr Baldwin and upon completion of the app hope to look for acceptance...do you know anyone that has completed? Trying to decide btwn a this and a few other SMP's. This program is extremely attractive due to cost and instate status...

where are you from? and have you located a place to reside?

Dr. Baldwin is very helpful when you have questions. I don't know of anyone personally who has completed the program, but there is a link on their site that has previous grads who matriculated into professional school afterwards. Most of them got into UMC's dental or med school. There is no "official" linkage, but Dr. Baldwin teaches at UMC's med school too, so I can only hope that he puts in a good word for those who did well in the master's program. I tried finding info about the success rate of MC's program on this forum, but I only found threads w/ the same questions as we have. lol. The turnaround for submitting and getting an acceptance is about 2-3 wks. I applied begginning of June and got an acceptance on June 21st. I chose MC over LECOM just b/c it granted me a Masters, but I don't know if I jumped the gun before looking at all the pros & cons, & that's why I made this thread.

I actually just returned from visiting MC from FL. I put a deposit down for a 1BR like a block away from the Science building (where all our classes r going to be). You should try e-mailing or contacting Dr. Baldwin w/ your stats to see if you're a good candidate. If you are, he'll tell you to start looking for apts. When I went this Monday, there were only 3 apt complexes that had one 1BR left in each. They had a few that had 2BRs left if you can find a roommate.

If you have anymore questions about MC, feel free to ask.
