LECOM or wait

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I believe they're PBL structured, my anatomy lectures had a similar format and I personally didn't like.

What I got out of reading previous threads here on SDN:
  1. PBL for the basic sciences: some people really do not like this format
  2. 4th year is done off site
  3. Patient pool isn't very large
  4. Not fully accredited yet
  5. Pass/Fail grading
  6. Apparently they used to discourage specialization during their interview process
(not my opinions - just posting what I read).

Personally, I would take any acceptance I was given so that I wouldn't have to reapply. I ended up turning down LECOM's acceptance, but I received another one to a school I'd rather go to.

Some people further explain their thoughts there.

I would do LECOM... but the dean of a school we interviewed at spent like 10 minutes telling the entire group of interviewees that if they didn't get into the school they wanted they should wait a year and try again. He kept going on about how important it is to enjoy your school and that one year would seem like nothing years down the line.

It's an interesting dilemma... and I can see his argument. When you reapply you could even talk about how certain you were of wanting XYZ from such and such school and were willing to wait a year to get it...

And yet, since nothing is certain, if I were in your shoes I might still do LECOM. I mean, I understand your hesitation; I took LECOM off my list for all the reasons mentioned in this thread... but it was because I was almost certain I'd get into at least one other school in my list of 10, any of which I would have preferred.
