Which school would you go and why? Please help!!!
I am from California so Western would be more preferable, but does anyone know if which is a better school?
Thanks for any input!!

I'm not you, so my preference should be pretty worthless to you. I don't know what YOU value in a school, besides California or non-California location. Go to the school you like the most, where you feel a better "fit," where the curriculum is better suited to YOUR learning. The only objective things we have to look at are first time passing rates on the COMLEX and properties of clinical rotations. I can tell you this - there isn't much in Erie.

Unfortunately, you haven't provided enough information for anyone to give you a helpful answer. The schools are similar, and the education you will receive is comparable. If you prefer to stay in CA then stay in CA.

I had the same choice to make as you. I ended up choosing LECOM. I'd say that I liked both schools about the same. I don't like LA or Pomona. Erie's weather is going to majorly suck compared to SoCal, but I figure I'm going to be spending most of my time indoors studying. The little rules that LECOM has don't bother me. I don't have family in either area so I'd be moving from family no matter what. LECOMs tuition/COA ended up being the deciding factor from me. I would like to minimize my debt and I cant justify paying Western's tuition/COA.

There's two parts to Pomona: The good part, and the part where you get mugged.

Don't get housing in the part where you get mugged.

Hahah. I have a friend who used to be at USC who said that he, without knowing better, rented a house near Compton. I never actually saw his place and perhaps he might be exaggerating, but he said that he and his housemates ended up boards/shelves over windows to keep burglars out (they had a problem with that once).

Well in all fairness to Pomona, the violent crime rate is down almost 25% since the beginning of the decade. And according to 2007 FBI data, Pomona has a lower overall crime rate than, oh, San Francisco, Boston, Salt Lake City, or say Vallejo, CA (where Tuoro CA is). It helps that property crimes are actually lower than the national average in Pomona, although I would probably concede there isn't much worth stealing in Pomona. And San Francisco, Boston, and SLC crime rates are probably reflective of pockets of crime as opposed to rampaging criminals equally distributed geographically. Although I pretty much always feel threatened by Bostonians, so it might be that they're just dangerous. Or maybe wearing Lakers or Yankees gear doesn't endear me to the natives there...

I went to Pomona every other weekend for two years...

Good thing my boyfriend lived in Clairemont right next door 😛

I got lost around Western once... I was like wtf goddamn no-name university in the middle of nowhere blocking my way to the freeway.
