Ok, here is my situation. I just got back my MCAT score, a 22. I did ok on both the verbal and bio but not so well on the physical. With that said, I am looking to see if anyone has any advice for my application to LECOM. I have a 3.05 science and 3.3 overall. I have decent volunteer experience, plus I play a division 1 sport (have for my 3 years of college.) Also, my school does have a partnership with LECOM but I really havent heard much about it, other than it exists. Well, anyone else out there with around my scores get in?? Thanks for any info!

What was your breakdown. I scored a 22 also. VR7 PS 7 BS 8.

On LECOM's site, it says the average MCAT score for matriculants is 23. We are not that far off.

Lecom doesn't know what they want in an applicant. They seem to accept and reject people from all points of the spectrum. I was rejected 1st time around, but i am in med school now.
My info was:
decent but low side gpa (from cornell)
6 years health care experience; medic
good LOR
published 1st author, JEB
year of research, both at at cornell and 5 months overseas
tons of volunteer
student athlete
33 mcat
a few other times going for me
And they rejected me 1st time around. interesting.

Yes Id say that is interesting!

I have a high GPA= 3.75 but Low MCAT. I have 6 yrs clinical experience (Im a nurse) and am a volunteer translator. Dont know that will make up for my 22N.

I got into Lecom Erie and Bradenton with a 22. Had 3.3 science and 3.5 or so overall with plenty of clinical exp, extracurric, etc.... Got WListed the first time around but got in next time! I think your interview counts the most!

What undergrad school do u go to? I went to Slippery Rock University and they also had a program with LECOM. The program might be basically the same.......

Yes, the first time I applied was late in the year like in late feb or middle of march so I don't think I even had a chance (the class was full). I got waitlisted and then just reapplied for the next cycle. Interviewed early, and accepted early!

I am debating now whether or not I should retake the MCAT. I dont know which is worse, applying with a 22 early, or getting a better score (maybe) and applying late.

I have a lot of other positive things going. It is such a hard decision.

On the interview at lecom that led to my acceptance, I told the panel "I do not have anyweaknesses, I fixed them all." Must have worked.

I know its weak but i got a 9V 8Bio and 5 Phys. I know the 5 will kill me but any shot at all? By the way, Niagara University is my school. I dont know if it is the same program as Slippery Rock. Thanks again.

Guys, if you search previous threads, some had mentioned that he was accepted at LECOM-E with the MCAT of 19. Of course lots of other factors will play in to the final ADCOM decision, but MCAT of 22-23 alone should be a problem at LECOM.

You should apply, without a doubt. You could try and retake the MCAT to make you more competitive, but you can get in with your score. I am assuming you are in your last year of college, so you can always pull up the science gpa. If you get an interview, go look up what questions have been asked and have a good idea of what your going to say. If you do well in the interview and they like you, your good.

Apply early!!!!! You can always send in new scores if you have not been offerd an interview or if you have not been accepted after an interview. It only gets more selective as time goes on. So, it is in your best intrest to apply early. You should not be worried about a 22 if everything else in your application is good.

The only thing that wont look good besides the score is the fact I screwed up my freshman year, however after that Ive maintained a 4.0 and currently have about 156 credits. I received all A s in my premed courses and like I said, I have 6 yrs patient care experience and also volunteer as a translator for the hospital. I am also disadvantaged.

Im gonna do what you said though, submitt my app ASAP.
