Hi All,

At the recommendation of another member, I decided to open a thread to see if I can get advice on the matter hopefully from adcoms or at least anyone who might have knowledge on the matter. A few years ago, I was enrolled in med school. However, due to a tick bite and consequential development of Lyme disease I left the medical school. (this was after taking two year long medical leaves) (they couldn't keep me longer due to policy) Thankfully the following fall I was placed on abx and made a recovery within a few short weeks.

Since then, I scored a 520+ MCAT, currently work successfully as a tutor on Wyzant with over 80 reviews, and as a scribe through Mount Sinai. The doctor I currently work for was able to give me a glowing recommendation, but late in the cycle. I would've expected my application to be reasonable, but I only got one interview invitation after sending out 30+ applications. I sent out 30 apps according to my LizzyM score. Once I found a rejection from BU, I added more lower LizzyM schools (but this was in Oct.) Maybe I don't know how to write a ps, but I had my father look it over and approve it. Regardless, I couldn't figure out why.

So I was hoping anyone willing could chime in and provide their feedback as to what went wrong. My GPA is a 3.73 cGPA, 3.74 scGPA, though it is from 10 years ago.

Thank you,
Monkeydfdg
You would have no trouble getting into my school. Having to leave Medical School due to medical reasons is not a barrier for readmission, at least at my school. Have you reached out to the admissions dean of your former school? That might be your best chance actually.

Rewrite your essays and have multiple eyeballs vet them. Have DO schools on your list, if you haven't already, because Beggars can't be choosy.

If you can letters of recommendation from your former Medical School faculty, that would be extra helpful.

This is a unique case. Did you ever reach out to your old medical school? Are they firm on not taking you back ever again?
Yeah, they have a policy. Which is unfortunate.
