This is purely hypothetical and I realize it has nothing to do with the quality of applicant, I was just wondering what you all thought.
Does having a family member(mom or dad) who graduated from school x (with an MD degree) help at all in getting into MD/PhD programs at that school? I know legacy status (and how/if it helps) is pretty variable for getting into just MD, but would it be a factor at all in MD/PhD admissions? I guess you could assume for two applicants, all else being equal, if one if legacy and the other is not, would the family relationship help?
(For the record, I don't think it should and doubt it helps much but would say is varies from program to program? That's my guess.)
