I had my driver's licensce suspended when I was a sophomore in college. It happened due to a mix-up with a speeding ticket I received. My parents had recently moved, so I never got the ticket notification in the mail. As a result the ticket wasn't paid on time, and my license was suspended. I paid the fine and got my license reinstated. I was just wondering if this would affect my being accepted to a school. UF recently emailed me asking for a better explanation of the the situation. :scared: Do you think this is bad or good?

How did UF even become aware of this? ...via some sort of pre-acceptance background check, or did you voluntarily offer the information on your application?

Regardless, I wouldn't worry about it at all. As long as you don't have any felonies, or any background that would indicate a lack of moral character, you're fine.

I offered the info voluntarily. I checked the 'Yes' box on the application where it asked if you'd ever had your license suspened or been charged a fine >$200.

I had a similar problem happen and had my license suspended... but it was more the state's fault than mine. Where on the application did you see that part? I've had to fill in the parts on applications about probation, etc. (I was put on academic probation my first semester of college)... but I didn't see anything about license suspension.

It was the question directly after the one about academic suspension/probation.

You are to be admired for offering the info up front and I would do exactly what UF asked for - give them a detailed explanation, similar to what you described. Be sure to give it objectively - don't assign blame or fault (ie...the post office screwed up) - just give the facts as they happened with the result that your license was reinstated without penalty. I don't think they will have any problem with your circumstance. I think they are looking for an underage crime - drinking, reckless driving, etc...which as a previous poster indicated is a reflection on your morals. Try not to worry.
