Can anyone tell me about the GPR in Lehigh Valley? I may be moving to the area for personal reasons, and I want to know the following:

1 - Is it structured as a standard hospital based program, or is the dental clinic run more independantly?

2 - Does the program compete for cases with post-grad departments such as endo, OS, peds, perio, etc? Trying to feel out if cases will be referred out or shared....

3 - What's the extent of the training in OS (implants, sedation, third EXTs), endo, and pedo?

4 - How rigorous are the hours and whats the on call like?

5 - How do the two sites compare?

Thanks!!!

I went to Muhlenberg, I highly recommend it! The dental clinic operates pretty independently, you see medicaid patients, but in Pennsylvannia, most of the dental procedures are covered by insurance, and if it is not, you can ask to make the case and educational case , ie for implants/ a good cosmetic case. So bascially the patient doesn't pay but you can get the experience. Pretty much, you can place as many implants as you want if you find the right patients, typically residents place between 2-4. I did a ton of endo there, they have rotatary. I did several perio surgeries as well. I had enough pedo exposure there to prepare me for private practice where I see a lot of kids. They have most of the newest technology. I was very grateful to go there, I think you learn a lot, and makes you a well rounded clinician. I recommend Muhlenberg (but I am biased). Also, the assistants and staff are great, very helpful. On call isn't bad overall, you may get a a week where you never get called in. I think I only had really one bad week in the whole year where I got slammed.
