I'm going into my third year of undergrad. I've been volunteering 35-45 hours each semester working with low income children as a elementary school classroom assistant or in a library homework help center, but with different organizations each semester because it was organized through my school. I'm planning to continue this activity in the future, and I'll likely have around 250 hours when I graduate.
Even though it's not at the same place each semester, would this still show long-term commitment?

That's fine, though you should volunteer some place outside of a classroom/academic setting as well within the community.

You need to get off campus and out of your comfort zone for nonclinical volunteering. What you are doing is really an extension of your educational, experiences. (And might be a sep category in the EC list=teaching.)
Try to stretch your experiences to people very unlike yourself. Try to find a homeless shelter, food distribution, soup kitchen, habitat for humanity etc. Remember medicine is a service profession and many of your patients will be very different from you. Can you deal with them with professionalism and compassion?
