length of personal statements

I used 90% of the allotted characters for both essays, MD and MD/PhD. Is that chill or do they find that the best essays find a way to use most of the characters?

Writing for length rather than content is a sure route to disaster. Also, scientists value brevity. I wouldn't worry about it if it's 90%.

EDIT: I haven't been through the MSTP app process specifically.

Isn't this the third recent thread we've had asking this exact question?

But, again, the answer is no. Do not feel compelled to fill up all the space in your essay just because the space is there.
