Anyone interested in making a running list of "lessons learned" as we all run through different types of practice problems? It's not necessarily for information, but more for like an absent-minded mistakes or for when you feel a problem tricked you into getting it wrong. I also feel like there are always themes on the mcat, so this can be a way of identifying those problems that are always on there and that should be free questions. It can be organized by topic, and each lesson can just be a sentence. Here are some examples...
"In genetics problems, double check to make sure what the question is asking for in terms of whether its those with disease, those without disease, or CARRIERS"
"In balancing equations, if something is taking too long to balance, look at answer choices to rule out any answers that do not balance. Really work with the answer choices!"
"In inelastic collisions and collision problems, make sure to assign direction in the positive and negative direction because momentum has velocity which includes direction. If two things are traveling towards each other, one has negative momentum"
So, basically, anytime you make a mistake where you were like DUH I CAN'T BELIEVE I DID THAT, then just write a sentence for the lesson learned page. Hopefully this can prevent a dumb mistake on the real thing. These are just examples, but if we all put our thoughts together, then this could be useful to scan through the days before... anyone interested?
