Hello,
I like to think I've just been very unlucky this cycle (LizzyM score over 75, but only one acceptance to a school I truly did not like), but getting into a school I recently interviewed at would be incredible. However, it's not looking good.
I interviewed there in January and was not accepted outright, but rather given a type of hold status (we will review your app again...). Here's the thing, I have already sent a letter of intent detailing my, well, intent to go to the school, including why I believe I'm a good fit. I have also sent an update letter including grades and research updates.
I will send one more update letter if a co-authored paper finally gets published (as well as a few more updates). I would ideally like to combine this with another letter of intent. My question is: should I address one of the weaknesses of my application (community service) in my letter? I have a perfectly valid (I think) excuse, namely that I was one of the primary caretakers for a sick family member for the past three summers.
Lastly, I addressed my previous letter of intent to one of the deans (and not the admissions office), and I believe it's very possible she simply ignored it. With my next update/intent letter (which I will send to the admissions committee), should I also attach my first intent letter?
Thanks!
