Should a letter of intent be written before a school replies back with a final decision or after, if you were put on the waiting list? I interviewed at a school this past fall, but it won't send out its first decisions till next year. As of now, its my top choice school and I haven't been getting anymore interviews. Would a letter of intent help at this point? How long should it be and what exactly should I address - reasons why I want to go there and how the school would benefit from having me as a student?

I think I'm a borderline applicant, so I'm trying to do everything I can that would help at this point. That said, is there anything else I can do to strengthen my chances of getting in? How much would a letter of intent or other additional information help in the decision making process? Thanks.

I know there are already threads floating around on this topic. Do a search and you will find...

In my opinion it can't hurt so go ahead and send it. Some school give you priority ratings so letters of intent only help when they start pulling people of their waitlists. However the more they see yur name and your file the more they see you are interested. I have given you some other threads below about this topic. Good luck.
