Hey all! I was wondering if anyone has had experience writing a letter of intent for your top choice school that you have been waitlisted at? I'm not sure if schools do LOIs but would it hurt your chances of sending one in? Does it show initiative and further interest to the admissions people? or does it seem like you are just trying to nag and beg? I understand it needs to be professionally written and to the point. It's not supposed to be long or tedious for that matter. My sister in law wrote an LOI for a nursing program she wanted to get into and luckily they accepted her in. She told me how it puts a name in their head because they see it again and see that you care enough to reach out to them showing interest. Again, nursing is different from PT and I'm not sure if this is such a good idea to do, because the last thing any students wants to come off is bombarding admissions or like begging. Not the intention I am going for. If anybody has any additional or insight I would gladly appreciate it!

I would suggest you reach out to your top program and see if they accept a letter of intent. I turned one into my top program in January and I'm still waitlisted. Definitely call the program to see what they recommend adding to the letter. Mine wanted updates on my application and why their program.

I sent a letter of continued interested to my top choice school I was wait-listed at. I attached an additional letter of recommendation from a teacher (required course I finished since I last spoke to them during the interview) and just followed up and asked if there is anything else they need from me while I await the final decision.

Got accepted few days after sending that email.

I am not sure if it had anything to do with me getting off the waitlist and acceptance but I would say it definietly won't hurt to reach out and tell them they are your top choice and you would accept their offer if given the chance!
