So I accidentally assigned every school 7 letters of recommendations. I know that the maximum is 6, so I tried to remove one of them (but obviously AMCAS doesn't allow it). Do schools choose 6 letters themselves in this case? I have one committee packet and two other letters. I just want to send the committee packet + 1 of the other two letters. I can't undo my mistake and not quite sure how to proceed. I don't want to come across as an obnoxious applicant...any advice would be appreciated!

Cancel your application and try again next year. Or just forget about it.

I'll go with "forget about it" hahaha. But seriously is there no way to uncheck the letters? Just making sure there's nothing I can do about it...

No, there's no way. It's done. But all your schools have a max of 6 letters? Schools are variable with the max number of letters they accept. I think mine accepts 10...

This is something my premedical advisors told me. They said it's a universal rule that a max of 6 letters can be submitted. Which apparently is not entirely true since yours accepts more.

I'm reading about individual schools, and some say a max of three letters should be assigned. A little confused how this works...

I'll just call individual schools to ask/clarify if it becomes a problem. Hoping it won't affect the app in any way.

There should be a universal rule to generally ignore everything that pre-med advisors say. Honestly. I got through the entire application process without getting advice from my advisor. The advisors have never been through the application process, and the majority of them are not up to date on each school's requirements. Got through on a lot of tips from SDN and just reading up on the schools

Hindsight is 20/20, but you should have done your own research into the schools before submitting. I kinda doubt it would be a huge problem, although they might ding you for not following directions.

Yes I agree. I misunderstood the directions about assigning letters but that's entirely my fault. Eh, we'll see how it turns out. Useless to fret anymore I guess.
