I was wondering how much weight a name attached to a letter of rec carries. I worked for a doc (research/or help) this summer and can 100% get a letter of rec but I was wondering if it would be better to try and get the research chair of the department (who also knows me) to sign on it and it would carry more weight. Even moreso, would it be worth trying to get the dept chair to also sign on it as a type of "committee letter"

Would any of these option carry more weight than the others? In more detail I work at a t20 hospital which is also my first choice for med school.

Only for that medical school would it help to get the signatures. Since it is your top choice, you work there, I would only send it there.
Thank you! Should I then not even send what will probably be a sterling MD letter of rec to the rest of my schools?

From my experience, they mean very little.
