letter of rec

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Well assuming you apply ontime with AMCAS (and they let you apply on time) then you should be able to start getting your secondaries into schools by August or so. Typically the secondaries will ask you to forward your letters of rec, so you need to have them ready by then. If you haven't already asked your recommenders for letters, you better do it now becuase you have no idea how long they will take. My application wasn't complete at any schools until mid-November becuase a professor I asked to write a letter in August took 3 months to crank it out. Needless to say, that delayed my entire interview season significantly.

At my school we had to ask by like October/November, otherwise the profs were too busy to crank them out fast enough, at least for the bio profs (our pre-med committee wanted them by the end of Feb so they could write up the committee letter).
