Letter regarding DAT retake.

Hi everyone, I wonder if anyone has had this same problem. I received a letter from Buffalo saying that my application would be immediately reconsidered if I retook the DAT. My problem is that I don't feel ready, I took it last time in February, and haven't touched Organic or Gen Chem or even math since then. I feel it would be irresponsible of me, and I would get worse scores this time around. I don't know what to do, I don't know if I should call them, write to them, saying that I would have to pass on the opportunity. Any suggestions?

You already applied. I would say take them and don't have them sent to any schools (provided schools already received your DAT scores). Buffalo would have no idea about your DAT score and if you did better, then you would just hand out the $15 or whatever it is now. Not a big deal after all you have paid to apply. Depends how bad you need/want that interview. Good luck.

Thank you for your replies. My scores were 17AA, 16 Science, 16PAT, I forgot to mention a very important fact that I have taken it 2x already and if I'm not mistaken the limit is 3. I cannot take the risk and study for 2 weeks and possibly blow my last chance at a good score. If I don't get in this cycle anywhere then I will give myself ample time to restudy everything and take it then. My question was more regarding, should I write a letter to the school thanking them for the opportunity, but declining the offer? I think that is the polite thing to do, ok i'm sorry I just answered my own question.

A better chance at one school at the risk of ruining your chances at all other school. Decline the offer and do a full scale attack for the next cycle.
