Hello all,

I couldn't find a similar thread with my questions.

What letter services are used for letter writers to submit their letters of recommendation for MD schools? The AAMC mentions the AMCAS Letter Writer Application and Interfolio. Does this mean both of those services can be used? Which is better, any recommendations?

Also, do recommendation letters expire after a certain time (stored in the letter service)?
Just for info: If applying to a second cycle, would I need to get new letters or can use previous letters?

Any info will be helpful.
Thank you!!

I used Interfolio bc you can store I think indefinitely and can send to AMCAS, AACOMAS, etc., so easier for the letter writers. It's free to store, but you do have to pay like $40 to send letters out, I felt it was worth it. You do have to figure out how to send letters (different for AMCAS and AACOMAS), but it's nothing crazy. I think Dr. Gray's website MAPPD has a storage service as well, but idk any details about it.

I used the AMCAS Letter Writer Application. Personally felt it was much better since it was free and integrated into AMCAS compared to Interfolio which is a third-party service you have to configure with AMCAS. Plus, you can submit your AMCAS for verification before your LORs come in and track when your professors send it in on the portal itself.
