I'm so confused. I'm a non-trad thinking about applying this summer (although I'm still lacking some bio courses). Do we have to send letters of evaluation to each individual school or is there a central site that accepts them? From what I've read so far it seems like you have to send them to everybody.

Also, who have some of you gotten recs from? I'm a couple years out of school so my old profs might not even remember me that well.

One more thing, how hard is it to get in without having all your prereqs complete? I'm only missing a bio lab, except for texas schools which require an extra 6 hours upper-division bio and another lab.

Thanks for the help.

It is ok to apply with the missing labs.

Check out www.interfolio.com for central LOR service.

monster,

Are you taking classes somewhere now? Did you go to undergrad full-time at some point. You might track down a pre-med advisor at one of those schools. Depeding on their program and policies they may 1) write a "committee letter" that summarizes and introduces your indvidual reccommendation, 2) act as a clearinghouse for your reccomendations, and/or 3) help you with some of your questions about the process.

I haven't any intent to malign the advice you'll read in the sdn fora, but you'll read a lot of questions that a good advisor would answer well. You'll also find among the many well-reasoned and correct responses a lot of anecdotal and self-interested answers. If you can find an experienced advisor to help out, it's your best bet.
