hey guys i'm a Junior and not applying till this June but I want to start on my application, starting with the letters of rec. My first question is that I see different school require a different number of letters, when you send the app to a school and they only require 2 and you have 3 do you get to choose which two? also, tomorrow i'm going to ask three of my professors to write one for me, is there any information I need to tell them, besides the app. process opens in early June, then they will get a email and be able to submit their letter? please let me know if i'm missing anything, thanks 👍

i thought of this problem too - it's not really an issue - if one school needs four and the other needs three or two just get four and send them all. the school can decide what to do with the extras. as for the second part, id recommend you just open an account on interfolio and get all the letters you need sent there first. upside to this is that you don't have to tell your profs to wait til june 1 to submit or whenever that is - they can submit it to interfolio confidentially at their convenience.

yea thats a good point, what is that and how does it work? thanks for the info by the way

If your school has a committee, send it over that way. Then they will mail out your letters to your schools from there. (+their evaluation letter of you).

Also, in your letters try to have at least one dentist write one. Some schools require that.

Oh, and what should you give your professors? Make up a little portfolio for them: your resume, your personal statement OR writing samples (i know my school has you write 5 essays for pre-health)...could be rough drafts of all of this. Also unofficial transcripts or just a sheet with your grades on it wouldn't hurt either. Give them as much as they can to put into your letter!

I go to a pretty small school so we dont have a committee, Do you think they need all of that stuff? We have very small classes like 20-35 and I have a close good relationship with all of my professor so I THINK they know me and my academic abilities and my personality enough to write one but i'll ask them if they need anything, can anyone else give me some info on interfolio? it looks like i have to pay for it and whoever writes a letter from me has to sign up which seems like more of a pain then just telling them to send in early june
