I have to do a literary review of a Medical Issue that is faced by the LGBT community.

Any suggestions?

Only major one I can think of is HIV, but thats not even strictly a LGBT community issue anyways.

Someone else suggested to me Transgender hormone therapy, he thought he read somewhere before that transgender MTF take three times the amount of hormones that post menopausal women do. (Granted, this was a non-med friend, so I dont quite know how accurate he might be in his knowledge of this) Nonetheless, seemed like a poor issue anyway, dont know how far I could run with that one.

Anyone have any good ones!!??

Did you search LGBT in pubmed? that would be a start. You can refine your search once you get a couple of main issues to focus on.

There was a huge article on hormonal transitioning for transmen (FTM, or biological woman to man) a few issues back in the New England Journal of Medicine.

As for other issues, check out depression, suicidal ideation, PTSD, substance abuse, sexual assault and childhood abuse, syphilis and neurosyphilis in MSM (men who have sex with men, which is now the politically correct term), prejudice-related trauma in SMW (sexual minority women, the other politically correct term). You have a lot of options, though many fall in the realm of clinical psychology rather than medicine per se. You might have a bit of a learning curve in terms of using sensitive and appropriate language/identifiers. Hope that helps!
